 Our Vision

ProYouth's vision is for all students to feel successful.

Our Mission

ProYouth's mission is to build the capacity of every student to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Message from our CEO:

Imagine a community where every child is safe from gang violence. That was the vision of the Visalians for a Gang Free Community over 25 years ago, when they said “no more” to the crime against children and formed ProYouth – Expanded Learning. While the goal is not yet met, I am proud of the impact ProYouth has made on progress towards achievement of that vision.

With your continuous support over the years, ProYouth has grown from providing after-school services to 220 children in 3 schools, to today serving more than 15,000 children in nearly 50 schools, in six districts in two counties. We serve over 700,000 fresh meals annually, and manage a multi-million-dollar budget, and we do all this with an amazing staff of over 350 people.

I can assure you, my staff and I come to work every day with the intention of providing the highest quality program possible for our children. A place where they can continue to learn, expand their minds and continue to grow, a place where they can engage in physical exercise, be treated to a healthy snack, be mentored by a caring adult, and a safe and nurturing place where a kid can be a kid. And all of this is provided to our families at no cost to them.

ProYouth is dedicated to building and nurturing positive and productive relationships with children and their families, in order for every child to have the best possible expanded learning experiences and reach their maximum potential.

Until the goal of a gang free community exists, ProYouth will stand side-by-side law enforcement, our school districts, local government, community leaders, families and children to some day make it a reality.Thank you to all our partners for ensuring ProYouth can continue to carry the work forward started 25 years ago into the future.

In Service,
Dr. Marie Pinto
