Home > Who We Are

Over the last 16 years ProYouth has brought more than $100 million into low-income neighborhoods throughout Tulare County, made a difference in the lives of over 100,000 children and young people and their families and provided meaningful jobs for more than 5,000 local residents.

We’ve developed strong partnerships with the education community, the private sector and non-profit organizations at the national, state and local levels. And, we’ve earned a reputation for being one of the most outstanding and leading edge expanded learning organizations in California.

In communities where drop-out rates are exceptionally high, more than two-thirds of the students in our program attend school more regularly and do better academically. They’re developing positive social skills, learning how to be effective problem-solvers and are more likely to complete high school and attend college. Juvenile crime and gang involvement in the neighborhoods where our sites are located has dropped by 22% and students are acquiring the skills and motivation they need to succeed in the 21st Century.

Our programs are not only changing lives, they’re saving lives! As the newest of California’s 33 Healthy Behaviors Learning Centers, or world-class learning labs, we’re helping address childhood obesity, the most common and costly medical condition facing our communities today. Students are developing healthier eating habits and becoming more physically fit, potentially saving our county millions dollars over the next several years and helping young people lead fit and fulfilling lives.

And, because our programs are provided free of charge, families have saved an estimated $75 million in childcare costs and many single parents, and especially women, have been able to enter and remain in the workforce. And, more than 90% report that they are more productive at work since their children have enrolled, and employers agree. We would be delighted to provide you with additional information about our programs and have you visit one of our sites and explore ways that we can work together to make an even greater difference!

Sincerely,

Daryn Davis, CEO
